Risk Factors

Risks Specific to EWY Perpetual Futures

EWY perpetual futures carry unique risks that differ from standard crypto perpetual futures. Please make sure you understand the following before getting started.

1. Leverage Risk

  • Using leverage may result in losses exceeding your principal
  • If the market moves sharply against your position, forced liquidation may result in total loss
  • Higher leverage multipliers dramatically increase liquidation risk
  • Piano does not advise on leverage selection — this is entirely your responsibility

2. Off-Hours Liquidity Risk

  • During Korean daytime hours, the underlying asset market is closed
  • Liquidity may drop significantly, and bid-ask spreads may widen considerably
  • Discrepancies may arise between futures prices and the underlying asset value
  • Slippage may increase significantly

3. Funding Rate Risk

  • Funding Rate is settled every 8 hours and may fluctuate between positive and negative
  • Depending on position direction, you may be required to pay Funding Fee continuously
  • Sudden changes in Funding Rate may result in unexpected costs

4. Price Divergence Risk

  • Perpetual futures prices do not always match the underlying EWY ETF price
  • Significant divergence may occur when the underlying market is closed
  • Global events may cause unexpected price movements

5. Exchange Risk

  • EWY perpetual futures are traded exclusively on Binance
  • Trading may be suspended due to exchange system failures or policy changes
  • The contract may be terminated if the exchange decides to delist it
